Cloud storage has become a trend for anyone who requires access to their files on-the-go all the time and especially in the creative workspace, your portfolio requires a huge amount of storage and backup features to safeguard your precious work, and this is why the WD My Cloud EX2100 is designed to achieve that purpose, the two bay NAS storage system accepts up to two 6TB hard drives and runs on WD’s award winning My Cloud OS 3 system that delivers easy to use features and convenience for the storage demanding environments.

The EX2100’s hardware is designed with the creative users in mind, the chassis has two USB 3.0 ports for storage expansion purposes and supports cloning your external storage device’s content back into the NAS. Powered by a Marvel ARMADA 1.3GHz dual core processor paired to 1GB RAM and having dual gigabit ethernet ports, I’m very sure this device is already an overkill for our humble 5 person office environment as according to WD’s specs page, the NAS is able to support up to a staggering 500 Samba and 800 ADS user access.

Out of the box, our review unit has been configured as RAID 1 Mirror mode, which you can also choose to reconfigure as JBOD or RAID 0 storage mode depending on your needs. Coming from the My Cloud NAS, the software is much powerful and functional this time, which now allows you to run apps, execute different backup modes and schedule downloads from HTTP, FTP and P2P sources. We are not going to giveaway too much details here as our very detailed walkthrough video will already give you a glimpse of the NAS’ features, stay tuned to our space for our thoughts on the enterprise grade NAS from WD.
