When it comes to OCR and translation software, PenPower has always been a famous company for doing that, the WorldPenScan X is a Kickstarter project that the company has successfully funded and have sent us a unit for review. On first impressions, most would have treated the device like a temperature pen but in truth, this is one of the most impressive invention from the company that I have seen.

The WorldPenScan X is no complicated tech stuff, it has two buttons that lets you turn on and pair the device with your smartphone via Bluetooth, a Micro USB port that charges the device and finally, the optical scanning head at the tip which is protected by a plastic cap. All you need to get started is to download the free WorldPenScan X app from Google Play or Apple App Store, pair it with your smartphone and you can start translating your books and documents to over hundreds of international languages.

Test results? I’m impressed, really, though I don’t actually use it much unless I do want to look up for a particular word in my books, the WorldPenScan X has demonstrated what it is worth for, it will benefit those who are currently learning a second language and saves a lot of effort by typing sentences and text into translators. Watch our video review to believe it, this product really works.

The WorldPenScan X retails at RM649.
