UniFi increases upload speed for Advance Plan subscribers

When TM first rolled out its UniFi Advance Plan offerings, many criticised the plan for having mediocre upload speeds. This hamstring-ing of the upload speeds was justified by TM as they claim that most UniFi subscribers do not fully utilise the upload speed. So it comes as a bit of a surprise then that UniFi has seemingly increased the upload speed for its Advance Plan tiers.

According to the Get It Now page on TM’s website, the UniFi Advance Plans’ upload speed has been doubled as subscribers to the 30Mbps package will now receive 10Mbps upload speed over the original 5Mbps, while 50Mbps packages will have a 20Mbps upload speed over the original 10Mbps.

Curiously, this change in the upload speed is not reflected in UniFi’s Personal or Business page as both pages listed the upload speed at 5Mbps and 10Mbps for the 30Mbps and 50Mbps packages respectively. As no official announcement has been made just yet, we suspect that the pages will be updated once TM decides to go public with the change.

As for current subscribers to UniFi, it is unknown as to whether the increase in upload speed has taken effect yet. As the news was first reported late yesterday, we’ve run a speed test on our home’s UniFi network this morning and it seems that no changes were made just yet. For now, if you’re looking to subscribe to UniFi, be sure to enquire if the changes in upload speed has already taken effect.
