If you happen to be a teenage hipster, and you use Tumblr, this might just be good news for you. Tumblr is now bringing back replies, after it was gone for a while. For those of you who have no idea what Tumblr is, Tumblr is a micro-blogging and social networking site. Why micro-blogging? Tumblr is a more image-centric social site, hence blogging is sort of comes secondary to the site.

According to Tumblr, the return of replies comes with some new features, claiming them to be better than ever, and also it comes tweakable for security and privacy purposes:

  • You can reply to a post multiple times.
  • You can reply to your own post.
  • You can reply to reblogs, not just original posts.
  • You’ve got three levels of who can and can’t reply to your posts.
  • You can see all of a post’s replies in one place, thanks to our redesigned notes.
  • You can write longer replies, since the limit has increased from 250 to 475 characters.

On top of those features, users get to decide who replies to their blog posts (or micro-blog posts). To do that, you have to head into the Tumblr app and tap on the account icon, advance to “Settings” and then “Replies”. For the web version, the “Replies” tab is available on the left when you go into blog settings. For stalker prevention, users also have the option to block a particular user from replying to your original posts. However, they’d still be able to reply if your post is being reblogged by another user. For further info, you can visit Tumblr’s dedicated page to explaining the “how-to’s here.
