Android smartphones are everywhere, any company could just come up with a funky or stupid brand name which they could eventually tell the whole world that they are smartphone makers, and they sell you at really, really cheap prices that none other branded alternatives could achieve. As an end user, we tell you why you should not be buying one of them in our TL:DR piece.

Cheap local smartphones are usually not manufactured by their own, but rather it is made by ODMs in China such as Foxconn while local OEMs tend to load up their own software on the phone, while I’m not trying to say that they aren’t good, you should actually be very particular about software experiences, they could be offering you very Xiaomi and Samsung like features, however rest assured that you will really ditch the phone after sometime of using it.

Imagine if you are travelling abroad and your phone suddenly breaks down, chances are you will be forced to buy another new phone in your trip and risk losing all of your stuffs inside, sadly local smartphone makers aren’t making their presence everywhere and you can’t find support easily in every retailers. Let’s face it, local smartphone OEMs just want to make money by selling their products, they don’t necessarily give a damn on support as much as established smartphone makers here, hence you are not going to expect any future software updates from them. Period.

Last but not the least folks, we would really encourage you to become a smart consumer on choosing smartphones and branding does matter a lot, while we are not trying to say all local OEMs are the same but if they truly care about staying long enough in the competitive smartphone market, a complete ecosystem, customer service and marketing effort is definitely needed, and sadly, most of them don’t possess that. Your comments are welcome.
