The Tales franchise have had lots of good response, obviously so since the next Tales series will be its sixteenth game. So Bandai Namco has just confirmed that the next Tales – Tales of Berseria, will also be getting a PC release, in line with what they’ve been doing with its other Tales series such as the previous Tales of Zestiria.

Apparently during the Jump Festa this week, Bandai Namco spilled some juicy details. Other than the fact that this is the first Tales series where the main character is a female, Velvet, the main protagonist is an embodiment of darkness due to “festering anger and hatred after a traumatic experience three years prior.” Wow, sounds like a pretty emo character. We can just hope it doesn’t get too overboard.

However, despite how brooding and depressing the main protagonist character sounds, thankfully Velvet is paired with a lighter character; Laphicet, a young man created in the image of “light”. So far, these two are the only playable characters we’ve seen so far looking at the trailer and early release photos. Hopefully the other characters balance out the “dark and light” combinations or we will have another soap opera in our hands.

Another update from Famitsu magazine, Tales of Berseria is set in a period long before Tales of Zesteria. It is set in a middle of an area called “Wasteland” in a continent called “Glenwood”. The sceneries, landmarks and surroundings will be vastly different, providing you some hints on how the past of Tales of Zestiria was like.

So far, there have been no confirmed launched date for Tales of Berseria yet, but we can probably expect it to be released in PS4 and PC via Steam in 2016 for the English version, but sadly for PS3 users, Tales of Berseria will only be in Japanese.
