Spotify is finally ready to launch its video service as the company announced that this feature will be made available to Android Spotify users this week.

Available for users in the U.S., the U.K., Germany and Sweden, this video service by Spotify will feature content from traditional and digital content providers such as ESPN, Comedy Central, the BBC, Vice Media and Maker Studio. To ease users into this new feature, Spotify will be compartmentalising video content and creating programming packages like “News of the Week” or “Laughs at Lunch”.

Spotify’s video service will be launching without any advertising in its videos as the company primarily sees video as a way to expand its audience and get existing users to spend more time with the app. “This is fundamentally about giving music fans what they want. We are doing fine on monetisation. This is primarily a demand play,” says Shiva Rajaraman, Spotify’s vice president of product.

For iOS users, this service will be made available a week after it launches on Android. For those living outside of the 4 countries listed above, there is no timeline as to when the service will be made available, so you’re going to have to wait.
