Students mock Donald Trump through programming language

Mocking politicians through words and pictures are usually the norm, but the students at Rice University have decided to do so via programming.

For the university’s own hackathon, junior computer science majors Sam Shadwell and Chris Brown coded up a programming language based on the Python programming language. This programming language is called TrumpScript, named after American demagogue Donald Trump. According to the language’s GitHub page, TrumpScript is made in order to “make programming great again”, which is a jab at Trump’s campaign slogan.

The code itself is satire gold, with features such as the programming language’s refusal to allow imported statements, which means that all code has to be “home-grown and American made”. Also funny is the fact that the programming language only allows “popular English words, Trump’s favorite words, and current politician names” to be used as variable names. The best part? All of the error codes in TrumpScript is a quote directly from Trump himself.

Personally speaking, this is quite possibly the most hilarious and original attempt at satire that I’ve seen thus far. The language can be downloaded from the GitHub page for those of you who are curious about TrumpScript.
