Samsung fixes the Galaxy Note 5's pen-gate issue behind the scenes

Inserting your S-Pen backwards into your Galaxy Note 5 might result in ruining the S-Pen’s detection sensor. Many have learnt it the hard way and Samsung’s initial response to the issue was to read the manual. So if you’re one of the handful of people who do read manuals, you’re lucky.

However, Phandroid has observed some changes that Samsung has quietly implemented – like changing the flagship’s packaging with a reminder for people to insert the S-Pen correctly, and producing a safer detection mechanism via new circuit boards.

According to the source, the new mechanism has allowed users to eject the S-Pen safely without damaging it if the S-Pen is inserted backwards by accident. The older designed mechanism did not provide that feature.

It is good to know that Samsung is taking action, although it is unfortunate that the manufacturing giant has overlooked this possibility in the past. However, according to Phandroid, you won’t be able to tell which model your Note 5 is without tearing it down. So just be careful, better to be safe than sorry.
