As successors to the P8 lineup, Chinese manufacturer Huawei will be launching four variants of the P9, according to a source. However, detailed specifications of the devices are still not known.
Huawei is said to launch a P9, a P9lite which is deemed to be budget-friendly and a P9max, successor to the P8max. An additional variant to the three aforementioned devices is rumored to have enhanced features,
The new P9 variant will have a larger screen, extra RAM and internal storage. It is also tipped to come with a dual 12MP lens, a second-generation technology which was introuduced on the Huawei Honor 6 Plus.
With the extra lens, the P9 variant will have some extra features under its sleeve such as simulated aperture adjustment, filter application and post-capture refocus.
One thing to note is that none of Huawei’s 2016 smartphones will sport a QHD resolution as Huawei feels that the trade-off in poorer battery life for a better screen is not worth while. Looks like Google’s Nexus 6P by Huawei will be the only smartphone with a QHD screen for now.
The company is also said to be launching the P9 lineup a few weeks after Mobile World Congress (MWC). Till then we shall see whether Huawei will be sticking to 1080p smartphones.
