Samsung launched its 2016 flagship line of smartphones running Android Marshmallow out of the box, and today we have news that Marshmallow updates are currently heading to the Galaxy S5, Samsung’s flagship handset in 2014.

According to SamMobile, Galaxy S5 variants running on South Korean carrier LG Uplus with the model number SM-G900L are the ones receiving the Marshmallow update. We are not sure whether this rollout is only exclusive and limited to the aforementioned S5 variants, but it’s very likely that other models of the aged flagship worldwide will be getting their fair share of the Marshmallow update in due time.

Powered by the obsolete Snapdragon 801 processor, the Galaxy S5’s Marshmallow rollout comes a month after the S6 and S6 Edge’s software update of the same Android version. The OTA update brings Android 6.0.1, which packs stability improvements, bug fixes and speed optimizations. If you happen to have the SM-G900L variant of the Galaxy S5, keep an eye out for the update and if you happen to be impatient, software updates can be checked manually via your S5’s settings menu.
