Microsoft has announced an update for Windows 10 which will be arriving this coming summer, known as the Windows Anniversary update. So far, after eight months, Microsoft claims that more than 270 million machines now run Windows 10. Terry Myerson, the chief of Windows stated that the update will be free to all Windows 10 users, claiming that whether they have a new PC, a five year old PC or a brand new Mac, teasing the Cupertino company in a non-hostile manner.

Not only will the Windows Anniversary Update arrive to PC’s, but also Holo Lens and Microsoft’s Xbox One. With the update, Windows 10 apps will work on the gaming console. Coming with the update is a more seamless version of Windows Ink, said to help people to create, ideate and collaborate better. The first part explained was to put Windows Ink “Front and Center”.

Via the simple push of the pen button, a new Windows Ink workspace will be launched.  The updated Windows Ink will be integrated with Cortana and Bing, thanks to Microsoft’s handwriting recognition. For instance, writing down an event with the word “tomorrow” on your Sticky Notes will activate Cortana, prompting to save the event to the calendar. Bing comes into play for recognizing written down locations. On the sketchpad, Windows Ink has a couple of interesting tools, such as a virtual on-screen ruler to guide your drawings on Sketch Pad. Aside from that, the Windows Ink workspace can be accessed on the Windows lock screen, allowing you to continue your sketch or jotting of notes without having to unlock the screen.
