Up until now, you could only take 15-second long videos via Instagram. Today though, Instagram is extending the video duration by a cool 45 seconds, allowing users to take post minute-long videos on the social network service.

Instagram’s video feature was first introduced to the service back in June 2013,  back when the company’s service was limited to still images. Since then, videos on Instagram has been slowly gaining traction among its userbase. According to statistics provided by the company itself, the time Instagram users spent watching videos has increased by 40% within the past six months. This wouldn’t be the first time that Instagram has extended the duration of its videos of course. Two months ago, Instagram allowed its advertisers to extend its ads from 15 seconds to 60. Now, users are able to do so as well.

Aside from the extended video duration, Instagram on iOS will see a return of various useful tools to its creators such as the ability to create a video using multiple clips from the camera rolls. The update will be going live on both iOS and Android today.
