A little over two months ago, OPPO has released the OPPO F1, dubbed the “Selfie Expert”, sporting an impressive 8MP camera that has an aperture of f/2.0 and a 1/4-inch sensor. If that isn’t enough, OPPO has released an older sibling, named the OPPO F1 Plus, exclusively for the European market.

Well technically, the OPPO F1 Plus already exists in China, carrying another title – OPPO R9, but we’re not sure as to why OPPO decided on having two different names for the same device. Nevertheless, the OPPO F1 Plus features a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, running on an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 SoC alongside 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, expandable via micro SD. The rear camera stands at 13MP and the front facing selfie shooter is the one feature that significantly blows the OPPO F1 away. The Plus variant sports a 16MP selfie camera, raising the already reasonably high standard.

Aperture-wise it’s still the same at f/2.0, since that wide aperture brings in a huge amount of light for your selfie experience. The handset also comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor. The F1 Plus is powered by a 2,850mAh battery. assisted with the OEM’s VOOC Flash Charge technology, making up for the lack of battery capacity. Like the R9, OPPO has disappointed us yet again with an Android Lollipop ran handset instead of the newer Marshmallow. However, coming at a price point of $299 (RM1178.97), there’s nothing much to complain about this affordable selfie-centric smartphone.
