Microsoft rolls out Windows 10 Mobile upgrade to old Windows phones

After a long, long wait, Microsoft has announced that they have begun rolling out its Windows 10 updates to devices that are currently running Windows 8.1.

If you have a Lumia smartphone, chances are good that your phone would be receiving the Windows 10 Mobile update shortly. For those of you who own Windows-powered smartphones that aren’t created by either Microsoft or Nokia, you might have to wait a little longer as the first phase of the Windows 10 Mobile rollout doesn’t seem to support many non-Lumia smartphones.

One thing to note is that Microsoft has admitted that Windows 10 Mobile “delivers significant new innovations” and as such, this would cause older devices to be unable to successfully upgrade to Windows 10 without an impact on the customer experience. This means that it is entirely possible that your Windows powered phone may never receive the Windows 10 upgrade.

In any case, if you’re one of the lucky few who owns a phone that will be receiving the upgrade, just keep in mind that weird glitches and bugs are the norm when it comes to a new version of Windows.
