If it isn’t obvious enough, Xiaomi unveiled the Mi Note and the Mi Note Pro not more than a year back to combat the seasoned Samsung Note lineup. The Mi Note was powered by a 2014 flagship processor – the Snapdragon 801 and the Pro version by a Snapdragon 810. The former comes with 3GB of RAM and the latter with 4GB. As usual, their competitive price points were one of the main factors contributing to the big hoo-hah about both handsets.

Rumor has it that the Chinese OEM will be refreshing their Note line. Not to be confused with the Redmi Note collection, Xiaomi will soon be coming out with yet another Note device, dubbed the “Mi Note 2”. Speculations surrounding the device aren’t solid enough just yet so do take them with a huge grain of salt. While we’re not sure whether the Mi Note 2 will have a “Pro” sibling, a source from Chinese site Weibo claims that the Mi Note 2 will sport either a Snapdragon 820 or 823 processor.

The device is said to run on either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. We’re looking at 6GB of RAM as more likely since VIVO’s Xplay 5 is already packing that amount of horsepower. Moving on, the Mi Note 2 will feature a QHD 5.7 inch display that supports 3D Touch technology. Storage options will come in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and a possible immense 256GB. The Mi Note 2 will be equipped with a 16MP Sony IMX298 sensor with OIS, and lastly, a 3,600mAh battery.

We will be expecting this one to turn some heads in the consumer market. Maybe, just maybe, Xiaomi would want to share the spoils with the anticipated Galaxy Note 6 by launching the alleged Mi Note 2 around the same date as Samsung’s phablet flagship. What do you think?
