Everyone is talking about it; how Lenovo’s latest offering is going to kill the Surface 3. But really, is the new Lenovo Miix 700 a Surface killer? Well, looking at the design itself, it is no secret that the Miix 700 is inspired by Microsoft Surface 3. Apparently, even a Lenovo rep has acknowledged so. Let’s take a look at how much is the Miix 700 similiar to the Surface 3.

For one, the most obvious part is the kick-stand. The Miix 700 sports a kickstand that is able to be adjusted to a multiple heights to almost around 160 degrees, just like the Surface 3. However, compared to the Surface 3, the hinge on the Miix 700 is exposed and is using the same type of “watchband” hinges like on the Yoga Pro 3.

The feature that everyone seems to be oogling most is the keyboard cover of the Miix 700. Admit it, the keyboard cover on the Surface really could use some improvement. So what Lenovo did was great. The keyboard of the Miix 700 snaps onto the tabletwith a strong magnet and is a sturdy keyboard, just like how you would find on many laptops. It folds up slightly into the screen of the tablet to give the keys a bit of angle, and probably to stabilise its keyboard.

On the inside, the Lenovo Miix 700 features an Intel Core M7 processor, which is from the latest family of Intel Skylake processors, and can go up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD should you need that extra speed and space. The screen is 12-inch with 2160×1440 pixels and only weighs about 771g.

The Miix 700 comes with 5MP front and rear cameras, however, you have the choice to plug an Intel RealSense 3D camera, which allows you to log into your Windows 10 tablet using your face. So far, none of the Surface tablets are able to do that, but then we have to see what Microsoft will surprise us with in its next Surface refresh, rumoured to hit in a few months time.
