Huawei is making a huge play in Malaysia as the company has annouced that they will be offering an online trade-in service to customers.

Being the first smartphone manufacturer in the country to offer such a service, Huawei will be utilising the company’s online retail portal, Vmall.my, to facilitate this service. Users will now be able to register themselves for a trade-in through the retail portal. A service supplier will pick up the device from the user’s doorstep and provide them with an e-voucher that can be used to make purchases on Vmall from the comfort of their own home.

This service comes with two benefits as not only can Huawei build up good will amongst its userbase, it will also functions as a ‘green’ initiative that advocates consumers to be more environmental-conscious. Old handsets that are collected by this service will be processed depending on their condition to ensure proper management of electronic waste.

“At Huawei, we believe that it is critical to pave the way for environmental sustainability together with business growth and product development. And the road to sustainability needs to be one that consumers can choose easily. That is what we are trying to achieve through our online trade in service Vmall.my,” says Zhu Yonggang, Country Director of Consumer Business Group (MRO) for Huawei.
