A major update for Samsung’s Gear S2 has started to rollout to its users, available through the Gear Manager app. This update sees a few features being added into the wearable’s Tizen based OS interface.

One of the most notable features new from the update is flight mode. The flight mode on the Gear S2 works just like on any smartphone, disabling connections, blocking incoming calls and notifications alike. Another feature is the ability for users to set their own background photo for the Gear S2’s watch face. This can easily be done by selecting the Digital face in Samsung’s Gear Manager app. Tapping on the “Stylize” button will bring you to your smartphone’s picture gallery for you to select your photo to be set as the background photo for the digital watch face. Also coming with the update is adaptive brightness, which allows the watch to tweak its own brightness, which is useful for better battery optimization.

The 83MB update should be heading to your Gear S2 anytime now. Do note that you can’t operate the device while installing the update. Samsung has also stated that the Gear settings might return to default so bear that in mind as well. How’s your Gear S2 doing so far? Let us know at the comments section below!
