Elite: Dangerous is a game which is not getting a lot of spotlight but there has a very aggressive fan-base. I don’t mean they’re starting and riots or anything over the game, but they have some pretty crazy ideas about how their flight simulators would look like.

For those of you who need a slight introduction to the game, Elite: Dangerous is a crowdfunded flight-sim which basically takes you from the RTS play style of E.V.E. and puts you in the fighter cockpit. That means that you live in a sandbox universe, and you have full control over what happens in the galaxy. You can be whoever and whatever you want to be, a fighter pilot, a junk trader or even a transporter. Everyone who starts in Elite: Dangerous start out equal and everyone gets to create their own story. You can fly the ship of your dreams, watch it blow up and then take out a loan for another ship. And if that one blows up, you’ll be in debt and have to pay it off doing menial tasks.

Being a flight-sim at heart, you’ll be put into a cockpit where you will have full control over the weapons, attachments and flight controls of your space craft. With that being said, you also might imagine a lot of players wanting to get a full immersion into the game.

Here are some insane implementations of flight-sim cockpit mock ups that are sure to make you wonder if your money is going to the right places. Most of these cockpits implement the use of a HOTAS, which is an acronym for Hands On Throttle-And-Stick and some form of crazy monitor system, the craziest of which is the 3-projector display with the inclusion of an IR tracker on his head. I would’ve thought it would be easier to get an Oculus Rift, but looking at his implementation, it looks like he really doesn’t like wearing the headset it might seem.

What are you waiting for? Get it on Steam for $59.99 (USD). Don’t worry about getting a flight-deck rigged up, cause you can enjoy the full game with a keyboard and mouse.
