Twitter has been experiencing a slow down in growth in terms of stocks and userbase. The company is trying to remove certain features off its mobile app to increase performance speed for a while now, to step its game up with its competitors such as Facebook Messenger. This time however, Twitter is bringing a new feature to the app, adding video support to Direct Messages, not too long after adding the option to share GIF’s. According to the company:

Starting today, you can capture & share videos in your Direct Messages. It’s rolling out globally on iOS & Android.

Twitter started experimenting with features in order to improve the experience for their app’s users. According to The Verge, Twitter has been trying out an algorithmic timeline which displays “best tweets” on top of the timeline instead of displaying tweets in chronological order. Prior to that, Twitter added a “while you were away” feature, displaying tweets which users might not have come across when they are not on the app.

Twitter has to continue working on its app experience to be able to maintain its competition with other internet and social media giants such as Facebook and Google. The DM video support will be pushed out to users worldwide. The feature is also available on Twitter’s website, excluding the ability to record videos.
