The Mi4i was dubbed as the global phone by Xiaomi. Sure, it has great looks, a sleeker design unlike previous Xiaomi smartphones, but its a step down from its flagship Mi4 in terms of hardware power. Xiaomi is apparently looking to launch a new model called Mi4c, which will share the Mi4i’s design and body however with much more powerful hardware specifications, according to leaks and benchmarks on Antutu, the Mi4c will be powered by a Snapdragon 808 hexa-core SoC and sports a USB Type C connector.

While the phone’s CPU alone is already a huge change over the Snapdragon 615 powered Mi4i, the other hardware aspects of the Mi4c remains the same, such as having 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM, a 13-megapixel main and 5-megapixel front camera, 5-inch Full HD IPS with Sunlight Display and a 3000mAh battery. In addition, the Mi4c will come preloaded with MIUI 7 based on Android 5.1.1, which is Xiaomi’s most updated smartphone software till date.

The Mi4c is unfortunately a China exclusive device and you might be able to get in grey import channels locally, but do take note that the phone will not work with local FDD-LTE bands, and you’ll need to sideload Google services into the phone in order to fully utilize Android. The Mi4c is expected to retail at RMB1099-1299 (RM726-RM852), which is similar to Mi4i and we expect Xiaomi to offer a 32GB model of the phone as well. Let’s just hope Xiaomi will make an international model of this phone soon.
