Those of you who own a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet take note, the company is issuing a worldwide recall for the device’s power cords due to potential overheating issues.

According to Channelnomics, Microsoft is expected to issue a statement on Friday surrounding the faulty power cables. The statement mentions that “as a result of damage caused by AC power cords being wound too tightly, twisted or pinched over an extended period of time, a very small proportion of Surface Pro customers have reported issues with their AC power cords”.

This problematic power cord affects the Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2 and the Surface Pro 3 models sold before July 2015. The Surface Pro 4 and the basic Suface models aren’t affected by this issue.

In line with the recall, Microsoft will be offering free power cord exchanges for owners of any of the Surface Pro models affected by this issue in the US. Currently, there is no word on whether or not Malaysia Surface Pro owners would also be offering free power cord exchanges.
