Instead of following the number sequence just like iPhones, Microsoft has decided to skip the 9 figure on its Windows platform and has introduced Windows 10, an all new built from the ground up PC operating system. The highlight of Windows 10 is that all devices will be sharing the same platform regardless of laptops, smartphones, tablets or desktops, Microsoft has made it very clear in the picture that there won’t be a separate version or app store for any of these devices and that’s one heck of a good news to everyone of us. But also, this could probably mean the demise of Windows RT in our opinion.

Windows 10 introduces a number of exciting features that will finally make users love Windows again, which includes the return of a proper and very nice look Start Menu that shows you your programs and live tiles instead of a full blown up Start screen.

Metro apps can also be launched in a windowed mode instead of full screen while users will have the flexibility to resize them in any way. Besides, the Snap feature has been improved to support up to 4 running applications, which makes it extremely useful and a good reason to invest on a high resolution display.

Switching apps on Windows 10 is also more streamlined and polished this time by utilizing a new task-view button on the taskbar will show previews of the working app, something similar to Mission Control on the Mac.

And finally, Microsoft did took a long time to support multiple desktops which is long available on the Mac since OS X, users will now be able to have multiple desktops on a single display that allows them to open and run apps simultaneously. Windows 10 will also enable users to find their files faster with a recent files feature in the File Explorer.

Windows 10 does introduce some really exciting features that has been long anticipated by many users, there’s still no news on when the new operating system will officially debut but this will definitely be a free upgrade for current Windows 8.1 users. So Microsoft, how about offering free Office 365 Personal for free in every new Windows PC next? We would really appreciate that!
