While the trend of high resolution UHD video recording is building up, content creators are looking forward to more creative ways of content making and thus GoPro, a leading manufacturer in action cameras has acquired Kolor, a company that does virtual reality and spherical media solutions.

Given the strong competition from other camera makers such as Xiaoyi and Sony, it makes a lot of sense for the company to move in this direction since high resolution video recording no longer sets them different. According to GoPro, Kolor’s solutions enable users to combine multiple photographs or videos to produce high-resolution panoromic or spherical content that can be enjoyed on mobile devices, the web or in a virtual reality environment.

Here’s one of the videos from GoPro that uses Kolor’s spherical media technology and it sure looks gorgeous. Are you prepared to shoot some 360 degree videos?
