A new Over-the-Top (OTT) video-on-demand (VOD) service is in town, and its name is Viu.

Launched yesterday, Viu is a VOD service that focuses on premium Asian content. The service is expected to deliver over 10,000 hours of content in 2016 from Korea’s top broadcasters like KBS, MBC, CJ and SBS. Selected Korean dramas will be available subtitled in English after 8 hours of their Korean premiere and in Bahasa Malaysia within 24 hours on Viu.

Additionally, more exciting content will be available from regional and international marquee studios such as Primeworks Distribution, Media Prima, MD Entertainment Indonesia, and many more.

During the launch event, Telekom Malaysia Berhad announced a partnership with Vuclip, a PCCW media company. With this partnership, TM’s UniFi and Streamyx broadband customers will be able to enjoy access to Viu as part of their subscriptions, in addition to their existing HyppTV service.

For those who do not rely on UniFi or Streamyx, Viu is a freemium service, allowing viewers to access thousands of content for free. If you wish to access premium content, you can subscribe to Viu’s premium service for RM 10 per month.
