It’s official, there will be no stabbing or slitting of throats of fictional historic figures this year. Ubisoft has made an announcement coming from the Assassin’s Creed team that the title will be taking a break this year from its annual release. It’s the game’s first time on a hiatus after annual releases dating back to 2007’s Asssasin’s Creed, the latest installment being Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.

This year, we also are stepping back and re-examining the Assassin’s Creed franchise. As a result, we’ve decided that there will not be a new Assassin’s Creed game in 2016. Since the release of Assassin’s Creed Unity, we’ve learned a lot based on your feedback. We’ve also updated our development processes and recommitted to making Assassin’s Creed a premier open-world franchise.

The team claims they’re taking the year off to develop and evolve game mechanics to deliver the promise of unique and memorable gameplay experiences. On another note, the latest title of Assassin’s Creed Chronicles series has just been released. a couple of days ago. Also, an Assassin’s Creed film is set to be released on the 21st of December this year, featuring Academy Award nominee Michael Fassbender. All in all, there will still be action from the highly acclaimed video game series.
