“Hi, my name is Warren and I am a business owner and also a YouTuber.”

“Are you single? Yes, I am.”

“Do you want to have a girlfriend/life partner? I’m not gay, so I guess that answer would be Yes.”

“How about trying an app called Tinder? Alright!”

Last night, I had the opportunity to attend my first ever singles event hosted by a local Malaysian pub, it never crossed my mind that I so badly wanted to attend one, since this is a Tinder themed singles party, why not? So here’s what happened in detail.

9.13PM: I arrived at the place at Changkat Bukit Bintang, a famous drinking spot in downtown Kuala Lumpur, parked and paid my valet parking.

9.15PM: It was still early so I decided to take a stroll down the streets to discover those creative and colorful pubs, I finally realized how much great life I’ve been missing

9.20PM: I found the pub and the hostess showed me the way up and I sat at the bar, the bartender passed me the drink menu.

9.25PM: After hesitating through the long list of drinks, I decided to order a pint of Guinness, which actually tasted pretty good

9.28PM: I was chatting with #teamklgg over WhatsApp on what is happening around me, I see Tinder’s “Like”, “Nope” and “Super Like” stickers around me, there wasn’t crowd yet as the event only starts at 10PM, a man next to me was holding a bottle of Tiger beer and staring into nowhere.

9.45PM: I saw the DJ setting up his place to get the party going and I think this is going to be an awesome night.

10.00PM: Nope, there weren’t a swarm of peeps heading up here, just a few early birds and I noticed Tinder stickers on them, either with “Single & Swiping”, “I’m just here “Making Friends” or “Already Met My Match”. There you go, you know who to approach if you really want to know them.

10.05PM: The bartender distributed a “Super Like” card to me, which lets me easily ask the girl’s phone number or have me to drink over at her table.

10.30PM: Things are starting to happen, single guys started pouring in the event and the girls come with their single besties. Guys started ordering drinks while girls get their free flow cocktail.

10.45PM: A girl was next to me and was shaking her body along with the exciting music, we talked for a while, she was a Personal Assistant and tells me that she works 24/7 for her boss.

11.00PM: I wandered around the pub, apart from observing on the details of the event, I looked at the singles who attended the event, most of them came from their offices after work, some girls put on really heavy make up that looks really matured. I then realized, this Tinder Thursday Night isn’t for me, because I am too young at 27 where as the people I happen to meet are at least 30 years old.

11.45PM: I ordered my fourth alcoholic drink and decided to give myself another chance to get to know someone.

12:05AM: I walked out of the pub and went home

Lesson learned, Tinder in real life isn’t as fun as swiping right or left on your smartphone, I decided to believe in fate and hence, my “Super Like” card is empty. And yes, I have deleted Tinder from my phone long time ago.
