Synology’s stage in CES 2016 this year continues to be an interesting one as the company has pulled curtains off on its latest NAS server, the DiskStation DS416j is a budget-friendly 4-bay NAS server made for home and personal users that helps managing data effectively and serving multimedia files in the network. The DS416j comes with a dual-core CPU and delivers great 112MB/sec sequential read and 101MB/sec sequential write speeds under RAID 5 configuration when used in a Windows environment, the hardware itself also comes equipped with a USB 3.0 port that allows quick backup feature for external storage devices.

In addition to the DS416j’s great hardware package, the NAS server runs on Synology’s award winning DiskStaion Manager software, which we have experienced back then in Synology’s event in Singapore and COMPUTEX last year, the software features a beautiful graphical user interface that offers a generous library of applications such as an e-mail service, active directory, media player and many more, its technically like having a full fledge working operating system on a NAS server. Synology has also done a great job with the DS416j’s front LED as it allow users to adjust and schedule its brightness, while power consumption is also great at 21.6 watts in full operation and 12.75 watts in hibernation.

Sounds great? You bet. The Synology DS416j is now shipping globally at the price of SGD450 (RM1374) while hard drives are of course, sold separately.
