OpenSignal has released LTE statistics in their report titled “The State of LTE and it turns out that Singapore has the fastest average LTE speed and South Korea has the best coverage. The website collects data from millions of smartphone owners through its apps, hence crowd sourced data is part of OpenSignal’s research methodology.

As it turns out, the top two fastest networks with LTE are Singaporean telcos with the country’s average speed topping at 37Mbps and the network with the best coverage comes from a South Korean telco at 99.6%, with the country averaging at 97% LTE coverage on average. Countries like Japan and the US have massive LTE infrastructures. However, based on the report, their LTE networks can’t match the speed of most of the world’s 4G operators.

How about Malaysia then? The average LTE speed of Bolehland stands at roughly 12Mbps and the coverage averages at approximately 55%, which unfortunately lies within the lower half of the spectrum.

What do you think about Malaysia’s performance? Nevertheless we’ve just finished Season 1 of our Telco Challenge, comparing the speeds and real-life usage of local networks. All 12 episodes of the Telco Challenge can be accessed here on our YouTube channel
