Apple may launch more apps on Android

It seems that Apple isn’t quite done with Android just yet as Tim Cook has hinted that more Apple apps may be appearing on Google’s own OS soon.

Various sources who attended Apple’s “Town Hall” event reported that Tim Cook has voiced his interest in porting more apps to Android. Currently, the only app from Apple that is available on Android is Apple Music. According to Cook, Apple Music on Android was a way of “testing the waters” to see if it could further expand its services division on Android.

While Cook did not go into too much detail as to what Apple has in store for Android, Cook’s mention of expanding its services division on Android may mean that the company intends to port over iCloud and its various services like calendars, emails, notes, reminders, and the iCloud photo library. iMessage may also be potentially ported over as well. Also speculated to be ported over to Android is Apple Pay, Apple’s own mobile payment and digital wallet service.

It would be interesting to see if iCloud services and Apple Pay would be made available on Android devices as both services would be directly competing with Google’s own Google Drive and Android Pay. Whatever the case, it is too early to say for certain if both services will be coming to Google’s OS until an official announcement is made.

Other things that were discussed during the “Town Hall” event include revenue announcements, future products, Apple’s new campus, and staff privileges.
