Samsung's Android browser can now block ads

Samsung has begun adding support for ad blocking plugins to its on web browser which is pre installed on its Android devices.

The update which has started rolling out to Samsung smartphones running Android Lollipop and above, now enables users to install ad blocker plugins or apps to block sites that they visit, resembling to that of Apple’s Safari in iOS 9. Blocking out ads, clickbaits or unwanted content will save data usage on a browser, not to mention the reduce in page loading times.

Chrome’s desktop browsers, together with most other known desktop browsers have ad blocking capabilities through installation of plugins. Its Android version however, does not have support for additional plugins. Since then, a number of 3rd party browsers with ad blocking features embedded in them have been released but can never best the popularity of Chrome even with such features.

Adblock Fast is the first blocker available on the Play Store specifically for Samsung phones with its own browser Internet 4.0 installed. According to Adblock Fast, its plugin is able to reduce loading times by an average of 51%.

We’re not sure whether this newly added support will turn the tide towards Samsung’s favor, or will consumers stick to using the all-popular Chrome. What do you think?
