There’s one secret device that Oppo has been teasing us at the Oppo N3 launch event, we’ve finally witnessed the world’s slimmest smartphone that is made possible by Oppo. The Oppo R5 is now official and it takes the crown as the world’s thinnest smartphone at only 4.85mm.

The Oppo R5 is a mid-range smartphone powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 1.5GHz processor with 2GB RAM and has a 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED display. It has a 13 Megapixel Sony IMX214 sensor main camera and 5 Megapixel front camera with a huge f/2.0 aperture, supports LTE and TD-LTE networks and powered by a 2000mAh battery with VOOC rapid charging technology.

Being that incredibly thin, Oppo has resolved one of the biggest challenges of such design – the cooling system. The Oppo R5 is the world’s first smartphone that uses phase-change material that keeps the phone at a constant cool temperature while maintaining superior functionality, it’s patented “Cool Element” dissipation technology will protect the phone’s processor from overheating.

Similar to the Xiaomi Mi 4, Oppo has also used stainless steel for the phone’s body construction while having done a manual hand polishing on the phone’s sides and edges, which makes the phone feels extremely elegant and premium with its smooth edge coating.

The Oppo R5 will retail at USD$499 and will be available on November, the estimated pricing for the Malaysian market will be around RM1598.
