Advertising isn’t cheap, marketing campaigns require lots of resource, it happens in every industry and the fast moving consumer electronics market is definitely pushing the advertising business up. While we have seen Chinese phone makers like Xiaomi used rarely 3% of their operating cost to perform marketing campaigns, launch events and fans gathering, OnePlus here is apparently gaining some success through a similar business model.

OnePlus has recently revealed that the company has managed to sell more than 500,000 devices with just the selling price of oneOnePlus One smartphone, what the company has done is basically creating the hype of the phone being a flagship killer, while it does really have some impressive hardware specs and runs on Cyanogenmod, the company hasn’t really gone as far as other Chinese competitors to really promote its brand.

However as positive reviews of the phone started getting viral, OnePlus gets its fans and influencers both on and off social media. Therefore, it makes perfect sense for OnePlus to be able to use that little of its marketing budget. On a side note, OnePlus has even expanded its presence officially to Malaysia which we are really surprised on how they be intending to kick off their first sale here, let’s hope its not another scary flash sale or by invitation purchase already shall we?
