NVIDIA announces the GeForce GTX980M and GTX970M with increased performance and power efficiency

A few weeks back, NVIDIA announced it’s next generation desktop graphics based on the Maxwell chipset, it offers improved performance and aims to take gaming to the next level with the introduction of Gameworks that allows game developers to make realistic and beautiful graphics on games. Shortly after that week, NVIDIA again announced the mobile version of its next generation graphics chip, which is also based on the Maxwell architecture, the new GeForce GTX980M and GTX970M will dramatic improvements in notebook gaming over its predecessor with improved performance and power efficiency.

Gaming on Notebooks is a challenge when it comes to power consumption and smooth frame rates, that is why the new GTX980M and GTX970M are introduced to address this challenge, the new mobile GPUs will promise gamers 75% performance of its desktop equivalents.

With the advanced capabilities of the Maxwell chipset, gamers will be able to unleash the chipset’s power on playing games beyond 1080p resolution, NVIDIA’s improved BatteryBoost technology promises improved battery life and playable frame rates with on battery auto optimization for the most popular games.

With BatteryBoost, the new GTX980M will only draw a mere 100W power on battery and promises almost double of its battery life while maintaining a playable frame rate.

The new GTX980M and GTX970M will also feature NVIDIA’s Dynamic Super Resolution that enables higher-than-native game resolutions and downscale to the display’s native resolution, which will bring extremely high density graphics quality to your gaming experience. NVIDIA’s MFAA and VXGI will also be available on its mobile GPU as well, all of these advanced graphics capabilities will be available soon with an updated GeForce driver.

Probably the most impressive feature on the new GTX980M and GTX970M is NVIDIA GameStream, which will allow you to stream your notebook gaming experience wirelessly over to GameStream ready devices, and that means devices that run on the Tegra K1 chip such as the NVIDIA SHIELD and Xiaomi Mi Pad.

The GeForce GTX980M and GTX970M will be first debuted on the following notebooks – the ASUS G751, MSI GT72, Gigabyte Aorus X7, Clevo P150, and MSI GS60, these notebooks will be available in respective markets after October 7.
