Minecraft has been one of the popular creative games played by children, making them capable of unleashing their creativity by building and surviving in the world. Kids just love Minecraft, and Microsoft has just taken advantage of this. Microsoft has released a tutorial for Code.org that makes use of Minecraft to teach the basics of computer programming. Children could build a string of commands using the code-like snippets such as ‘turn left’ and ‘destroy block’, instead of pointing and clicking to smash your way through the map.

Programming can be both fun and extremely relevant this way, showing the kids how it can be. Students will be able to try this out at the next Hour of Code, using blocks of code to take Steve or Alex on an adventure through this Minecraft world. It will kick off on the December 7th but if you’re feeling impatient to let your kids try it and see how it works out, you could visit the website to give it a shot.
