With Xiaomi having launched the Mi 5 after the absence of a flagship last year, the spotlight for Chinese manufacturer’s has now shifted to Meizu, who’s tipped to launch its next flagship some time later this year. Leaked images of the handset, dubbed the Meizu MX 6/ Pro 6, have surfaced. Meizu’s M2 Note and MX 5 have certainly turned some heads, even in the western market and fans are looking forward to another impressive Meizu device this year.

Let’s begin with the leaked image of the prototype. Meizu, who has always been known for taking design cues from the likes of Apple and Samsung (not like Chinese OEM’s are any different), seemed to maintain its overall design elements. One of the key differences is the MX 6’s display, sporting a dual-edge screen similar to the one on Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge, suggesting that Samsung might have sold its dual-edge displays to Meizu, such is the case with Vivo’s XPlay5.

Also leaked is a screenshot showing the device’s Force Touch options, which gives us a slight confirmation of rumors about Meizu adopting Force Touch technology for its future phones. The MX 6 is rumored to run on either a powerful deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 or an Exynos 8890 processor like on Samsung’s S7 lineup. We’re not sure about the legitimacy of the renders, but the dual-edge display on a Meizu handset can be possible since the OEM has always been competitive in producing its flagships. Till then stay tuned!
