Since its launch back in August of 2012, Medium has seem more than two million posts on the service. Now, Medium wants to give something back to its contributors. To that end, they intend to allow contributors to monetize their posts on the service.

In an interview with BBC, Evan Williams, CEO of Medium, confirms that the company plans to launch monetization by the end of this quarter, which includes advertising but won’t allow banner ads, instead focusing on ‘sponsored content.’ While ads aren’t exactly the most welcomed thing on the internet, Williams believe that “there’s ways to do it that are respectful to user experience and user privacy.”

Ads aren’t the only method on the table as Williams also hinted that the company is also looking into premium models, such as a paid monthly subscription to Medium blogs or a paywall.

“I think publishers who are experimenting with Medium are seeing a world where it’s not about having a website. If you’re a quality journalist or content creator, I think you can find an audience, I think you can find engagement, and I think you can find money,” says Williams.
