Maxis hasn’t been offering competitive prices for its mobile service in recent months, thankfully the company still has its home fibre broadband service going on well as it unveiled MaxisONE Home – it’s not going to offer your unlimited bandwidth or phone calls -, the new home fibre broandband plans will see simultaneous download and upload speeds of up to 100Mbps and prices will start from RM170/month for MaxisONE users and RM198/month for non-MaxisONE users. Maxis is offering three speed options – 20Mbps, 30Mbps and 100Mbps for this new initiative, it will be available to all new and existing subscribers, regardless if your home fibre cable is running on TM’s backbone and officially supported by Maxis.

It does sound expensive alright and we won’t blame you for thinking that way, but Maxis has certainly anticipated that argument from a consumer’s point of view, hence the company has introduced its ‘MAXPERTS’ support team, which the company calls them a ‘SWAT’-like team of Internet experts and will certainly not charge in from your roof if your have issues with the service, otherwise it is a team that is dedicated to support customers such as identifying the best location at home for the best WiFi coverage, solving Internet needs with necessary cabling and installations and delivering 24/7 Customer support with 99.9% of on time service schedule.

Maxis’ Head of Integrated Services, Tai Kam Leong, said 6 in 10 problems faced by home broadband users are to do with not getting WiFi around the home when the company scanned blogs, forums and social feedback, hence MaxisONE Home is introduced to resolve issues like this starting from the installation of the service. In addition, new customers are promised a 30-days no questions asked, money back guarantee, should they find out any issues with the service.

If we were to talk about the competition, MaxisONE Home is currently the nation’s most expensive broadband plan, while not everyone would require a dedicated ‘SWAT’-like service, it will only take a couple of Google searches to find out solutions to WiFi coverages even coming from the tech illiterate users point of view, but nonetheless it is good that Maxis has been commited to keep up a good rep on its customer service. “Every service has a different value even with different price offerings”, Tai quoted to me in the press event, and let’s see how well it goes for the green telco.
