I’m not sure if you are thinking what I’m thinking, HTC’s new action camera seems to be meant for peeking at a toilet with its tube or pipe shape design, or you may try to comfort yourself it looks more like a asthma inhaler, this is one of the weirdest hardware design that we’ve seen from HTC.

It may look big in photos, HTC’s RE Camera is a small and light device at 96.7 x 26.5mm and weighs 65.6 grams. It’s obviously lengthier than most action camera out there but won’t put on weight in your usual bag. The RE Camera will take 16 Megapixel pictures, 1080p30 and 720p120 videos and time lapse recording, it has a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor and a 146-degree wide viewing angle.

If you noticed, the RE Camera has the same color options with the current Desire smartphone line ups, even the material is the same glossy plastic which can get scratchy and fingerprints. The RE Camera doesn’t come with a LCD display like the GoPro does and merely comes with a camera shutter button, you will also be able to use 128GB memory cards for storing lots of videos, there isn’t a power button which means HTC could pretty much have the RE Camera on standby for and will kick into action as soon as you press the shutter button.

The RE Camera is IPx7 certified water and dust resistant and you can buy a waterproof cap to make it IPx8, which you can probably use it to replace your diving tube (just joking), it also has a 840mAh battery which will deliver up to an hour of 40 minutes of continuous 1080p video recording and 1,200 still shots. The camera will support Android 4.3 and iOS 7 devices, it is expected to price at $200 and will be having a challenge to compete with GoPro’s new Hero 4 line ups. Do you think the RE Camera will sell when it reaches here?
