Google Photos get a slight overhaul

Google Photos has received an update, bringing a slight makeover to the app’s design and interface.

Firstly, Google has decided to ease up on navigation within the app. The Assistant, Photos and Albums section can now be accessed at the bottom of the app’s screen instead of the sidebar. This makes switching between sections a slightly quicker process. The Assistant section has received a colorful makeover, with quick access buttons for users to create an album, a collage, an animation and a movie. In the Albums sections, you can now access personal and shared albums easily and searching for photos of specific people or places won’t be much of a hassle.

On its web counterpart, Google’s cloud-based photo management service has added some new editing features. Common aspect ratios for cropping are now available on the web’s editing interface. On top of that, you can navigate and browse through multiple photos while in Edit mode and edits will be on auto-save, but of course, with the option to revert and undo.

Last year, Google Photos received a revamp, breaking away from Google+. Having dislodged itself from Plus, users were able to backup unlimited photos. Prior to Google I/O, this overhaul tells us that Google is going the right way.
