Firefox OS gets its first customized version called H5OS

Firefox OS hasn’t been really popular on its release, just like the very early stages of Android, the operating system shows potential however lacks developer and strong hardware support. However, things might actually change with the announcement of H5OS, a customized operating system based on Firefox OS.

This project is spearheaded by Acadine Technologies, which consist of many former Mozilla employees and lead by Li Dong. The company have raised $100 million in funds for this project as it also intends to expand its customized version of Firefox OS to devices such as wearables and other IoT products. In the meantime, the principal has been shifting focus on Firefox OS as it has considered adding support for Android apps.

Firefox OS 2.5 is scheduled to launch on November this year which will bring a mobile “view source” option for webpages and improved security. H5OS does sound promising despite of scarce information, who knows if the company could actually make a difference in Firefox OS, just like how HTC have done it on HTC Sense back on Android Donut.
