Last year, the FBI partook in what is possibly the single largest law enforcement hacking campaign in an attempt to bring down various child pornography websites on the Dark Net. This year, they’re going to be coorperating with European authorities such as Europol, effectively making this crackdown on child porn global.
This large scale crackdown, known as Operation Pacifier, has led to arrests in the US, Greece, the Netherlands and Chile thus far. At the centre of the crackdown is a website called ‘Playpen’, a website that is descibed by the US court as “the largest remaining known child pornography hidden service in the world”.
Slides relating to Operation Pacifier has since been discovered and points to the fact that every European country will be partaking in efforts to crackdown on child pornography. Europe isn’t the only participant to the crackdown as there are cases reported in countries such as Turkey and Colombia as well.
