Do you play EVE Online? Would you like to contribute to real life science advances? If you answered yes to both questions, you might be interested in knowing that EVE Online has just launched a new minigame called Project Discovery.

Run by the Sisters of Eve, Project Discovery, in association with the Human Protein Atlas, is crowdsourcing to identify patterns of protein localisation in human cells. Project Discovery itself is a minigame where you look for patterns and differences in high resolution images of human cells. Once you’re done identifying them, you can generate the results and submit them for rewards.

Upon completion, you will be rewarded with ISK (EVE Online’s in-game currency) and Analysis Kredits, which can be spent on Sisters of Eve merchandise in the LP store. However, do note that the results submitted will be measured against the consensus achieved by the EVE community, so quickly running through the minigame in order to rake in the rewards is not going to work.
