Samsung is a do-it-all company, almost any technology component you think of, the company has it. Earlier today, the Korean firm announced that entry-level smartphones will no longer need to live with paltry 4GB, 8GB or even 16GB storage space as the company is set to make affordable 128GB memory chip based on eMMC 5.0 standards for them, by utilizing the 3-bit V-NAND manufacturing process the chip will be able to achieve transfer speeds up to 260MB/s.

The semiconductor company stated that since high capacity storage has made its appearance in flagship smartphones – just like the company’s very own Galaxy S6, its time that entry level smartphones get some love for high capacity and fast flash storage, this move will also attempt to bring down production costs once mass production starts, eventually leading to cheaper devices with huge internal memory.

Such move from Samsung is galvanizing, which will give its competition like Hynix a good run for its money and it also means that phone manufacturers could start making super slim entry level smartphones without even the need of including a MicroSD card slot. In addition, that speedy transfer speed could also mean we should expect a faster and responsive user experience on future entry level smartphones.
