Microsoft’s own personal assistant, Cortana, has been made available for iOS and Android since last year. Now, the personal assistant is available for Cyanogen as well.
If you own a OnePlus device running the Android variant of Cynogen OS, the 12.1 release that is available now for some OnePlus devicces comes with Cortana.
This addition is a long time coming as Cyanogen was reported to be working on intergrating Cortana into its OS with Microsoft in order to replace Google Now. Cooperation between Cyanogen and Microsoft means that technical issues such as Cortana’s conflict with OK Google over the microphone access. Cortana’s presence on Cyanogen is the latest result of the collaboration between both companies as Cyanogen announced a partnership with Microsoft to have the Office suite, Bing, Skype, OneDrive and OneNote preinstalled on the OS last April.
Currently, the 12.1 update is available for the OnePlus One. No timeframe was given as to when the update will be made available for users of the OnePlus Two or the OnePlus X.
