ASUS seems to behind the rest when it comes to new Android rollouts and it is certain that ASUS users will have to wait till Q2 to adopt Android Marshmallow.

The OEM has made an announcement on its on forums that its handsets will be receiving the software updates consisting of Android 6.0, but only limited to these devices:

  • PadFone S (PF500KL)
  • ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML, ZE551ML)
  • ZenFone 2 Deluxe (ZE551ML)
  • ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition (ZE551ML)
  • ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KG, ZE500KL, ZE550KL, ZE551KL, ZE600KL, ZE601KL)
  • ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL)
  • ZenFone Max (ZC550KL)
  • ZenFone Zoom (ZX551ML)

ASUS did not specify the details regarding the update, but one thing to note is ASUS will be stripping some of their pre installed apps in the new software update. Google Messenger, Calendar and Gmail will be replacing ASUS Messenger, ASUS Mail and ASUS Calendar respectively. It seems like many OEM’s are leaning towards the vanilla Android direction lately. Both Samsung and LG have also removed some of their homegrown apps with the launch of their flagship devices – the Galaxy S6 and the G5.
