We are still very much in love with the ASUS PadFone S after our unboxing a couple of days back, the PadFone S station has arrived in our labs and we did a quick run through on the device itself. The PadFone S station is a 9-inch slate which has a Full HD resolution display and a built-in 4990mAh battery to charge the phone.

The PadFone S station is extremely thick and heavy in today’s tablet standards and we certainly won’t blame ASUS since the PadFone S itself isn’t a slim device. Similar to previous PadFone models, you simply slot the Padfone S into the back and it switches to the tablet mode in a duration of 5-6 seconds, the switch is pretty seamless and you won’t find much trouble with it.

In addition, the thick bezels aren’t pleasant looking on a modern tablet, but we can understand that design since most Androidtablet screen digitizers doesn’t have palm rejection, the thick bezels could help holding the tablet one handed without accidentally touching the screen.

Apart from having a built-in battery for charging the phone, the PadFone S station also features dual stereo speakers and a front facing 1 Megapixel camera for video calls, the display looks really good and color saturation is pretty consistent across the phone’s display, which is extremely good for continuous entertainment enjoyment.

Since this is the first Zen UI smartphone to be powered by the Snapdragon 801 SoC, the tablet mode of the PadFone S works brilliantly and smooth, never before we’ve seen Zen UI so snappy on a tablet user interface and thankfully there aren’t issues of distorted images or crashes as we’ve known in previous iteration of Padfones, ASUS has certainly come a long way in making these great convertible devices.

The PadFone S station works great, even though this is an engineering sample from ASUS, we haven’t faced any issues using the device itself, at least for the last 12 hours or so. Stay tuned for our full review of the ASUS PadFone S coming right up. On a side note, Taylor Swift looks gorgeous on the PadFone S station display. *wink*
