Among all Chinese smartphone makers, Huawei is one company that has never stopped from introducing more great devices into the Malaysian smartphone market. The company today introduced its long anticipated premium looking Huawei Mate 7 phablet, a 6-inch device that comes with the company’s high performance SoC and features a fingerprint sensor and Cat 6 LTE network support.
Powering the Huawei Mate 7 is a Hisilicon Kirin 925 Octa-Core CPU that is based on ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture, which features four A15 1.8GHz main cores and four A7 1.3GHz secondary cores that brings great performance and power efficiency to the device by automatically switching the cores when running on different applications.
The Huawei Mate 7 also comes with a single-touch fingerprint sensor on the back which the company has claimed that it is at least 80% faster than most fingerprint-sensor equipped smartphones in the market, thanks to its high 508PPI ratio for extreme accuracy of the sensor that is also able to read fingerprints even if it is wet, the fingerprint sensor can be used to unlock the phone and protect confidential content.
Huawei has employed a Full HD in-cell LTPS display on the Mate 7’s 6-inch panel, which actually looks and feels good on first impression, despite having known that in-cell displays aren’t the most sensitive displays around, it is manufactured by JDI and has an impressive contrast ratio of 1500:1 which will enable a great viewing experience even under direct sunlight.
Cameras on the phone are also impressive with a 4th generation Sony BSI 13 Megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture on the main shooter while the front shooter is a 5 Megapixel sensor.
The Huawei Mate 7 is available now in Standard and Premium variants, which will come with 16GB/32GB ROM and 2GB/3GB RAM options respectively, customers will also be able to get a free smart cover worth RM128 when they purchase the phone. The Huawei Mate 7 retails at RM1,799 and RM1,999 for the standard and premium version respectively, standard color options are Moonlight Silver and Obsidian Black while the premium variant will get an exclusive Amber Gold finish.
