Google is making a big move on Android Wear and it did the dare devil thing by making an app for iOS and guess what, the app is approved by Apple and you can now download it from the App Store at absolutely free of charge. This makes Android Wear to become the next major smart watch operating system to have cross platform support apart from Pebble. While the official Google blog indicated that Android Wear for iOS officially supports the LG Watch Urbane, I tried pairing it with the first generation LG G Watch and to my joy, it worked!
In our first impressions, the Android Wear app isn’t quite as complete as its Android counterpart and its very much expected, notifications such as phone calls and text messages can be received however contextual actions to these notifications are still limited at this point of time. Google Now works as usual and you can ask questions, set an appointment, dictate an e-mail and search on Google, everything seems to work darn good for a first time.
At this time of writing, Android Wear for iOS is currently available in the US store, which I’ve personally used my US Apple ID to download the app and it should reach the local Malaysian app store pretty soon, if you have an Android Wear smart watch and can’t wait to try out, hit up the source link to download it on to your iPhone, we’ll be testing out these few days so do stay tuned for more coverage.
